Flugelhorn with a passion...
From the age of 12, flugelhorn & trumpet artist Loran Cox has been inspired with Jazz, R&B, Soul and Latin music. After completing university degrees, Loran moved to Dallas, TX and performed 7 years as lead trumpet and soloist with "Orquesta Carabali"—opening for Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, El Gran Combo, Selena and more. As bandleader of the acclaimed 7-piece Latin jazz group “Mambo Combo”, performances included South-by-Southwest Music Conference (SXSW) and NARAS “Grammy Sessions Live”. Loran moved to Miami, FL and went on to perform with Grammy, Latin Grammy and international recording artists including Luis Enrique, Lefty Perez, Tito Puente, Jr., Lalo Rodriguez, “Cachao” Lopez, Nestor Torres, Gerardo Rosales, Marlow Rosado and Desmond Child among many others.
Now residing in San Clemente, California, Loran is performing with Soul Sauce (Latin Jazz) and freelancing with bands in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego while continuing to release new Groove Tantra recordings. Loran is Groove Tantra songwriter, arranger and bandleader.
Loran's custom flugelhorn “Bix” was made in England by brass instrument artisan Andy Taylor. Loran is from Davenport, IA and now resides in San Clemente, CA.
